'You have to wait to get better'
Many believers in the central Illinois Christian community have been brought together in prayer and support for the Post family of Peoria, some of whom were involved in a horrific accident in December. Part 1 talked about the spiritual war the family fought. This post focuses on their healing and renewal.
PEORIA—Aiden Post, 18, edged sideways through his home’s dining room as he made his way to a chair on a recent afternoon. His vision is down to 20/50 with restricted peripheral vision in his right eye, and he can’t see out of his left eye at all, so he had to be careful.
But he’s seeing the blessings of the accident that landed him and his father, Jon Post, in hospitals for weeks.
“This season of my life is the way God’s trying to teach me patience,” Aiden said. Then he added, “You have to wait to get better.”
On Dec. 14, Jon, Aiden and Owen Post were heading to the church that Jon and his wife, Carol, pastored in Carthage on Dec. 14 when a semi hit their car. Jon and Aiden were critically injured, and Owen, Aiden’s brother, was banged up. Jon and Aiden have undergone multiple surgeries and lengthy rehabs. Aiden was unresponsive for a couple of days after the accident and had to breathe through a tracheostomy tube for a while. Part of his skull was removed to relieve brain swelling that had interfered with the functioning of his vital systems.
